The “healthiest man in the world” spends millions on rejuvenation, only to discover he’s been taking a drug that accelerates aging

For years, Bryan Johnson has captured the attention of the media and public with his rejuvenation project, “Blueprint.” Even Netflix produced a documentary about his efforts to stay forever young.

Over a year and a half ago, Johnson revealed his radical daily regimen, boasting that at the age of 45, he had the heart of a 37-year-old, the skin of a 28-year-old, and the lung capacity of a teenager.

A supplement that actually speeds up aging ?

His routine is pretty intense – a strict diet, daily exercise, and 54 supplements a day (not to mention creams, procedures, and even blood transfusions from anonymous donors).

But what’s really interesting is that one of those supplements might actually be counteracting his efforts. The supplement in question is called Rapamune, which contains sirolimus, a medication normally used to prevent organ rejection after transplants.

It’s also used to treat certain cancers and rare diseases. So, could all this super-advanced stuff really be accelerating aging?

While some studies suggested this drug could slow aging, Johnson experienced the opposite. After taking it for five years and experimenting with various doses, he developed serious side effects, including skin infections, lipid abnormalities, elevated glucose levels, and a higher resting heart rate.

Unable to pinpoint another cause, his team suspected Rapamune. Johnson later noted on the social platform X that research indicated the drug might accelerate aging, prompting him to stop its use.

Rapamune was only one element of Johnson’s rigorous longevity regimen. He also sleeps eight to nine hours a night, practices red light therapy, avoids sunlight, adheres to a vegan diet, and more.

Johnson, who calls himself “the healthiest man in the world,” spends approximately $2 million per year on his longevity experiments. It will be fascinating to see the impact of these efforts on his body and overall appearance over the next five to ten years.
