Mark Wahlberg discusses the challenges he faced while having to gain a lot of weight

Hollywood actor Mark Wahlberg pitches into the discussion of the hardships and challenges he faced while having to gain a lot of weight for his latest role in the film Father Stu.

It’s always been of common fact that Mark Wahlberg is a fit person. But fit doesn’t equal buff, and that’s exactly what he had to obtain for his most recent and upcoming film called Stu, which encompasses the true story about a boxer that changed profession to a priest. The famous actor had to eat an enormous amount of food to gain the twenty pounds needed in less than a month’s time.

On The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, via video conference for safety reasons, the A-list actor talked about the challenging process for this role and one other role for his upcoming movie Joe Bell.

So, to play his role of Father Stu in the movie of the same name, Mark Wahlberg had to consume a whopping 7000 calories a day for two weeks, and then those calories increased to 11000 for the next two weeks, which is an excruciating and dreadful process for anyone and would have people not look forward to eating another meal.

The star then shared, “Unfortunately, I had to consume, for two weeks, 7,000 calories, and then for another two weeks, 11,000 calories,” he continues, “And it was fun for about an hour. It’s such a hard, physical thing to do. “

Wahlberg adds – “Losing weight, you just kind of tough it out—you just don’t eat, and exercise. And this, even when you’re full, I would wake up after a meal and have another meal. I was eating every three hours. It was not fun.”

The Hollywood actor goes on to explain how he’d wake up, eat a meal and then have another meal as well. He’d continue eating a meal every three hours daily.

But as he turned 50 recently, this isn’t such an easy feat, as it’s harder to put the body through those changes at that age, especially for such a short period of time.

Fallon then asked him if it’s harder to gain and lose weight at his current age.

The actor answered truthfully, “Yeah absolutely”. “You know once the metabolism starts to slow down it gets really difficult.”

Mark Wahlberg then shared that he had been trying to get the movie made for six long year and he only had thirty days to shoot it. Not only that, but he also had put a lot of his money into the making of the movie which also gave him a sense of urgency to get it done fast.

Another thing he shared was a three week before and after photo post on his Instagram profile back in early May and the transformation will be obvious when the movie releases.

The Hollywood star will now most likely be relieved to not have the need to consume that many calories a day anymore and hopefully everything was worth all the effort and pain put into it.

Though there has not been a set in stone release date for Father Stu yet, but Joe Bell has already hit the theaters on July 23, 2021.
