WATCH: Morgan Aste Vs Big Ramy

Modern bodybuilding is all about building as massive physiques as possible and it doesn’t seem like this trend will lose its steam anytime soon. And as far as the competitors of the open weight class are concerned, inventing new ways to put on jaw-dropping amounts of mass is what the sport has become all about.

In a recent interview, Arnold Schwarzenegger openly criticized the increasingly freakish proportions of today’s bodybuilders who tend to focus too much on the shock factor and said that no average person would like to look like these guys, while the bodybuilders of the Golden Age strived to develop the ideal male physique and placed the strongest emphasis on aesthetics.

The IFBB pro Mamdouh “Big Ramy” Elssbiay is the ultimate posterboy of modern bodybuilding who went from a relative unknown to potential Mr. Olympia title challenger in just a few short years thanks to his inhuman size and definition that has garnered him much attention. The Egyptian champion has already graced the covers of many bodybuilding magazines and is regarded as one of the biggest bodybuilders the world has ever seen.

But Big Ramy should really watch out because there is another bodybuilding star in the rising who is in the process of making a great name for himself. We’re talking about Morgan Aste, a French bodybuilder who is standing at 6’3’’ and weighing close to 360 lbs in the off season and seems to be creating a lot of fuss by shifting some serious weight in strongman competitions. Rightfully named “The Big Rock”, Aste could prove to be a future championship threat if he keeps up this rate of progress.

Could this guy earn his place among the mass monsters on the Olympia stage one of these days?

We will have to wait and see, but his current muscle size and strength certainly promise a lot. Some folks think he might be already larger than Big Ramy. One thing is for sure – this guy has iron will and rock solid self-discipline when it comes to his bodybuilding career. At the age of 20 he turned to strongman training to prove that he wasn’t just about muscle and soon enough managed to lift a 170 kg Atlas stone and pulled a 13 ton truck for more than 20 meters. Now that he’s decided that he wants to focus his efforts on the professional bodybuilding scene, we’re convinced that he’s got the potential to steal the show from Big Ramy pretty soon!
