Weightlifting is a very rewarding sport. However, when practicing olympic lifts, form is everything. Break the form slightly and your chances of getting an injury increase exponentially.
This is exactly why seeing these crossfitters doing the clean and press makes my back hurt. Now, I am not saying that crossfit is bad, but many of these athletes get into the ‘I am a machine’ mindset and tend to forget that in order to lift heavy weights, you need to go through a learning pattern where you learn the right form.
What is even more upsetting is the fact that the voice in the background (which is probably the coach) tells them they are doing a good work and encourages them to keep going. This is just a catastrophe waiting to happen at any time.
What is your opinion on these lifts ?
