Legendary bodybuilder Ronnie Coleman was admitted to a local hospital this past weekend due to a “serious medical condition,” according to a statement from his family.
When the 61-yearold first informed his fans about his health problems on Sunday, stating that he would not be able to attend an event in the UK because of a “medical emergency,” he reassured them that he is receiving the best care possible for the unclear condition.
According to an update released by Coleman’s family on Monday, the bodybuilder “continues to show incredible strength and resilience.”
“At this time, we are not sharing additional details, as the focus remains on Ronnie’s recovery and well-being,” the family said. “We kindly ask for your understanding and support in keeping the environment respectful and free of speculation.”
“Ronnie has always inspired the world with his toughness and heart, and we know he feels the love and energy being sent his way.”
Having won Mr. Olympia eight times and numerous other fitness accolades, Coleman is among the best in his business.
Assuring his followers that everything will be alright, Coleman said, “Thanks for all the love and support and as always this ain’t nothin but a peanut.
Just a day later his familly has posted another update saying that Ronnie was transferred to a specialized medical facility where he will be provided with the best care possible.
In the instagram post, his family says that Ronnie is being treated for an “infection in his bloodstream”.
What is Septicemia
A bloodstream infection also known as septicemia is a medical condition that happens when bacteria, fungi or viruses enter the bloodstream.
Septicemia needs to be treated immediately with antibiotics, because if it spreads, the body could respond with sepsis, which can be life threatening and cause organ failure.
We currently have no info on how serious the condition is.
The Fitness and Power team sends prayers to Ronnie Colleman and wishes him a full and fast recovery.
