This Guy Did 100 Burpees Every Day – Here’s How It Transformed His Body

Australian YouTuber Laurie Shaw did a fitness experiment where he did 3,000 burpees in a month and documented the changes to his body and fitness.

Laurie has done 30 day challenges in the past like Olympic sprinting and running but this time he focused on the burpee – a tough bodyweight exercise that originated as a military fitness test and is now used as a full body conditioning workout.

With no gym access while traveling Shaw committed to doing 100 burpees a day for a month and documented the changes to his body and performance.

He describes the benefits as “a good mix of muscle, obviously the pushup, shoulders, chest, mixed with cardio”.

On day 1 he does the 100 burpees in 10:40 and wants to get faster in the coming weeks. But Shaw notes it’s not a linear progression “some days you’ll feel on top of it and some days will be harder”.

He says the habit of doing the morning reps gets easier but the physical exertion remains the same. Remarkably Shaw says the burpees never get easier throughout the month.

While the routine of doing the reps gets more ingrained the exercise itself gets more mentally challenging.

On day 30 he does the final test and does the 100 reps in 7:00, 3:40 faster than day 1. He’s happy with the result and jokes “no more burpees for a while!”

The experiment shows the changes of a month of doing a challenging exercise routine and the mental toughness to do it daily.
