One of the best basketball players in the history of the sport, Kobe Bryant, died in a helicopter crash in California, US media reported. Bryant, who was a five-time NBA champion with the Los Angeles Lakers and won the Olympic gold with the US national team twice, was 41 years old.
Bryant, who spent his entire career on the California basketball team, was one of Michael Jordan’s successors after joining the strongest basketball league in 1996 at just 17 and becoming one of the youngest players to play in the league.
Bryant was due to enter Basketball Hall of Fame next year.
He currently ranks fourth on the list of highest scoring players in NBA history.
After retiring from basketball, Bryant devoted himself to projects in the film industry. Two years ago, he won an Oscar for animated short film “Dear Basketball”.
Our condolences to the family and friends of Kobe Bryant. May he rest in peace.
