The legendary wrestler and WWE Hall of Famer HULK Hogan passed away at the age of 71 following a heart arrest at his home.
Hulk Hogan, whose real name was Terry Gene Bollea, passed away a month after rumors circulated that he was on his “deathbed” and that his health was failing.
Sky, Hogan’s wife, recently denied reports that the legendary wrestler’s health was deteriorating, stating that his heart was “strong” and that he was recuperating from a neck surgery done back in May.
In an X post on Tuesday, Hogan’s longstanding former manager Jimmy Hart gave fans an update on the Hulkster’s health, stating that he was “doing phenomenal.”
However, at 9:51 a.m. on Thursday, Hogan passed away upon the arrival of emergency medical personnel and police at his Clearwater, Florida, home.
After receiving a call regarding a cardiac arrest, Clearwater Police told The U.S. Sun that first responders showed up at Hogan’s residence.
People said paramedics tried to revive Hogan at home for 30 minutes by administering cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) before taking him to Morton Plant Hospital.
TMZ was the first to report the WWE Hall of Famer’s death, claiming that he was loaded into an ambulance and transported out of his house on a stretcher.
At 11:17 a.m., Hogan was declared dead at the hospital.
He was “surrounded by his loved ones” when he passed away, according to a statement from his family.
Hogan’s manager gave a statement to Newsweek saying: “Unfortunately we must confirm that Terry Bollea, aka Hulk Hogan passed away this morning,” she said. “We are heartbroken. He was such a great human being and friend.”
Who was Hulk Hogan
Hulk Hogan was one of the most influential wrestlers in the world, and in his prime he weighted about 137 kgs or 302lb.
The Hulk’s creation and WWF admission
Terry’s rising stardom in Memphis led him to appear on a local talk show. Beside him sat bodybuilder and actor Lou Ferrigno. He was the first actor to portray the green giant from the Marvel Universe in the 1970s television series “The Incredible Hulk”, which made him most famous.
He was given this job, partly due to his size and muscularity. But everyone saw how much larger he was when Terry sat down next to him on the chat show. This moniker came to life at that point, and he began performing in the wrestling industry as Terry “The Hulk” Boulder.
It’s interesting to note that Marvel, the only owner of the Hulk’s name, granted him permission to use this name. It is unknown what the agreement’s specifics are. Some stories, however, claim that during his 20-year stint as the Hulk, Terry paid Marvel $100 for every fight. Marvel was also supposed to get a cut of the sales of Hulk Hogan-related merchandise. This was primarily about action figures, posters, t-shirts, etc.
Terry’s decision to join the World Wrestling Federation in 1979 marked a sea change in his life. The WWF promoters believed that something was amiss, despite the fact that his charisma was grabbing everyone’s attention. They changed his name to Hogan in an attempt to make him a distinctive Irish wrestler.
They also wanted to tint this tall wrestler’s hair ginger. But since his hair was already falling out, he turned down this request. He changed his identity to Hulk Hogan, a blond Irishman.
Hulk Hogan and bodybuilding
Hogan had a reputation for using big weights in his intense training. Complex exercises like squats, bench presses, deadlifts, and pull-ups that exercised multiple parts at once were particularly appealing to him. He used to work out first thing in the morning and then eat breakfast of raw eggs.
At his age, he continued to exercise on a regular basis. His residence had a private gym where he lifted. As he reached his 60s, he naturally began training with lower weights and higher repetitions.
The thought that he wants to improve every day was the driving force behind his training. Following the fundamentals, he maintained balance between a healthy diet and regular exercise.
Rest in peace legend !
